There is Oil in the House of the Wise ~

I have been a dOterra Wellness Advocate for almost two years. I am in love with oils and fascinated with the science behind them. Within the first year of becoming an advocate I witnessed first hand and from loved ones the power of oils. I learned not all oils are equal as well. So below you will find information on using essential oils and pictures of them working. If you want to know how to get on board with dOterra essential oils just reach out to me and I can get you started. My biggest priority is education. You can also get more info with my page "Halfway To Full Health" on Facebook or join my team and you will be added to my exclusive group page!
NOTE: All information on this page is regarding dOterra essential oils ONLY! Information and facts comes from dOterra and The Essential Life book. And always consult your doctor before adding oils to your daily routine (they ARE eastern medicine!)

dOterra Lavender Essential Oil                                        (lavandula angustifolia)

Lavender is a favorite in the oil world because of how many issues it addresses but also how gentle it is. This is one of the NEAT oils (NEAT means you can apply the highly concentrated oil without dilution because of how mild it is). It is always recommend to dilute even NEAT oils on babies, elderly or anyone with sensitive skin. Below you will find uses for this amazing oil!

Sleep Issues: apply under the nose, to bottoms of feet or diffuse to promote better sleep
Stress, anxiety and teeth grinding: apply over heart, on back of neck or inhale from cupped hands
Sunburns, burns and scars: apply to area of concern to soothe, heal, and reduce scarring
Allergies and hay fever: take in a capsule or under tongue with lemon and peppermint or rub in palms and inhale from cupped hands (ONLY RECOMMEND WITH DOTERRA OILS!)
Colic and upset baby: massage diluted along spine, abdomen or bottoms of feet to calm
Cuts, wounds and blisters: apply on site to cleanse, heal and limit or avoid scarring (COAGULANT, SO APPLYING WILL STOP BLEEDING)
Bug bites and hives: apply on site to soothe as a natural antihistamine
Nosebleeds and pink eye: apply across bridge of nose or around eye (NEVER PUT OILS IN EYES!)
High blood pressure: use on pulse points and over heart or take in a capsule
Migraines and headaches: inhale ans apply to temples and back of neck
Emotional balance: use aromatically and topically to get from unheard to expressed

Leonidas hit his head on the corner of his dresser. I immediately applies lavender and the bleeding stopped. This is an oil I advise keeping in your purse as well as at home and in first aid kits.
Lavender means "to wash" in Latin. It is likely the most used essential oil globally, and for good reason, as it serves in all things calming!

                   Arborvitae (Thuja Plicata)

Picture
Arborvitae will always need dilution with it because of possible skin sensitivity. This oil's top properties are antiviral, antifungal, antibacterial, and is a stimulant. If you don't care for the smell or want to make a blend it is suggested to mix with birch, cedarwood, frankincense, and Siberian fir. The tree that this oil comes from can live for over 800 years. It's it no surprise that Arborvitae means "Tree of Life". Below are some of its uses.

Candida & fungal issues: apply to bottoms of feet or area of concern
Viruses: apply to bottoms of feet
Cold sores & warts: apply to sore or wart frequently
Respiration issues: apply to chest with fractionated coconut oil
Repellent: diffuse, spray on surfaces, or apply to repel bugs and insects
Cancer: apply to bottoms of feet
Stimulant: apply under nose and back of neck to stimulate body systems and awareness
Bacterial support: apply to bottoms of feet or spine with fractionated coconut oil. Spray diluted in water on surface or diffuse to kill airborne                                              pathogens
Skin complaints: apply with lavender to troubled skin
Sunscreen: apply with helichrysum or lavender to protect against skin exposure
Meditation: diffuse to enhance spiritual awareness and state of calm
Emotional balance: use aromatically and topically to get from Overzealous to Composed

                                  dOterra Basil
                           (Ocimum Basilicum)

Picture
Basil is one of my favorite oils to work with. Not only does it have huge health benefits but it is great to cook with! Remember I am talking about dOterra oils only. To see how they triple check to verify their products are pure and why they are the only company to put internal use instructions on their bottles go to Source To You too see how they test and well as dOterra's website for more information. Anyway, back to my basil. I love using it in my cooking, but with the potency being so strong I highly suggest using the toothpick method when seasoning, unless you want your sauce all basil and nothing else. LOL. The toothpick method is simple I promise. Dip the toothpick in the oil and stir into your sauce. Taste and repeat until you have the desired flavor! Easy peasy! On of the most universally applicable oils, basil is from the Greek word meaning "king". Ancient Greeks believed it opened the gateways to heaven. Basil top properties are stimulant, neurotonic, steroidal, regenerative, antispasmodic, anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, digestive. It blends really well with bergamot, lime, litsea, peppermint. Below are some of its top uses. Basil is a "hot" oil and will ALWAYS need to be diluted with coconut oil. Possible skin sensitivity. CAUTION: consult your doctor before using if pregnant or epileptic!!!

Adrenal fatigue: apply under nose, to bottom of feet, back of neck, forehead, and/or over adrenal area
Earache: apply behind and down beneath ear area: swab ear canal to relieve pain and infection
Loss of sense of smell: apply under nose and to toes to regain or increase sense of smell
Migraines and dizziness: apply with wintergreen or peppermint to temples and back of neck
Mental fatigue and focus: breathe in, diffuse or apply across forehead
Nausea and cramping: take in a capsule or apply to abdomen to ease discomfort
Gout and rheumatism: apply to spine, bottoms of feet, ears, ankles, or are over heart
PMS and menstrual issues: apply to lower abdomen to stimulate menstrual flow and assist with menstrual cramping (I have done this and it works really well with cinnamon and digestZen)
Muscle spasms and inflammation: apply to spine or bottoms of feet, or take in a capsule
Bug, snake and spider bites: diffuse or spray diluted in water to repel insects. Apply topically to bite
Emotional balance: use aromatically and topically to get from Inundated to Relieved

                            dOterra Bergamot
                            (Citrus Bergamia)

Picture
I will admit when I first heard of bergamot citrus did not come to mind. My first thought was more of a woodsy type oil. But now that I have it I love it for that citrus origin. Bergamot is another oil that has many uses and I can't wait to share them with you. Did you know bergamot was used in the first eau de cologne and is used to flavor Earl Grey tea? Well now you do. Top properties for it are neurotonic, anti-inflammatory, antidepressant, antibacterial, antifungal, and digestive stimulant. This one blends well with ylang ylang, lavender and patchouli. CAUTION: BECAUSE IT IS A CITRUS AVOID SUNLIGHT OR UV RAYS TO APPLIED AREA FOR 12 HOURS. Also, if you have sensitive skin then you will want to dilute it down.

Addictions: apply to back of neck and bottoms of feet or diffuse
Insomnia: inhale or diffuse before sleep
Stress: apply to back of neck and bottoms of feet or diffuse
Joint issues & muscle cramps: apply to affected areas
Fungal issues: apply to affected areas or take in a capsule
Coughs, infections & bronchitis: apply to chest
Acne, oily skin, eczema & psoriasis: apply diluted to affected areas
Appetite loss: breathe in and/or take in capsule
Self-worth issues: apply to belly button and over heart to enhance feelings of worth
Emotional balance: use aromatically and topically to get from Inadequate to Worthy
